Bach • Brandenburg Concerto No. 4
Beethoven • Symphony No. 3, Op. 55 ‘Eroica’
PCM and Artistic Director Andrew Hall are excited to launch our 2019 Concert Season with major works by two of Western music’s greatest composers, Beethoven and Bach.
Continuing with our tradition of starting the year with one of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos: No. 5 in 2018, No. 1 in 2017 and No. 6 in 2016, PCM is pleased to be commencing this year with the livelyBrandenburg Concerto No. 4.
This will then be followed by Beethoven’s majestic Symphony No. 3, ‘Eroica’. We are delighted to present this work, which although grounded in the classical era is renowned for the way it stretched the musical boundaries
of that time to welcome the beginning of the Romantic era. A resounding way to mark the beginning of our 2019 performances.

Mozart • Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra K.364
Mozart • Symphony No. 39 K.543
Although the days are colder and the nights longer, brighten up the weekend with our Chamber Orchestra’s second performance for the year in an exciting new location.
We begin the concert with Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question and contemplate the discussion between the string ensemble, wind quartet and solo trumpet as each section strives to have the final answer to the “Question of Existence”.
The performance will conclude in a much more settled tone with two works by Mozart. The Sinfonia Concertante for solo violin and viola, and finally his Symphony No. 39.
We are pleased to welcome Erica Kennedy and Helen Ireland as our soloists for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.
