Welcome to Peninsula Chamber Musician’s second decade of providing a place of community for classical musicians and lovers of classical music on the Mornington Peninsula. Formed in 2013, Peninsula Chamber Musicians Inc. (PCM) have rapidly developed into an outstanding presence in the artistic landscape of the Mornington Peninsula. PCM was born from the desire to create opportunities and a sense of place for Peninsula based classical musicians - drawing together highly skilled musicians from across the Peninsula and beyond. Whether performing intimate chamber recitals or as the energetic Peninsula Chamber Orchestra, the group seeks to touch the hearts of concert goers and inspire the next generation of performers.
We are tremendously grateful for a Performing Arts Development Fund grant from the Mornington Peninsula Shire, along with support from Community Bank Southern Peninsula and generous in-kind support from our local sponsors, including Crittenden Wines and Commonfolk Coffee. These grants enable us to run our 2024 Season.
Our ambitious 2024 season features orchestral works, chamber music, opera and Australian and First Nations compositions in venues across the Peninsula. Sponsorship ensures affordable ticket prices and free student tickets, enhancing concert accessibility while keeping musical standards high. We provide a platform for local professional, community and student musicians to refine their skills, fostering a vibrant music scene. These musicians, in turn, contribute to arts and cultural education and experiences across the Peninsula.
In 2024, our orchestral concert titles come from the works of living Australian composers we have programmed. We seek to give you moments of Reflection, as you enjoy music you know from famous composers and let your imaginations take Flight, experiencing classical music as a living artform that Tessellates old traditions with contemporary notions. Our chamber ensembles bring music for wind quintet, string quartet, opera and Australian compositions to venues across the Peninsula including the Peninsula Hot Springs, Beleura House and Garden, St John's Flinders and Commonfolk Coffee.
If you would like to join us in continuing to provide a home for classical music on the Mornington Peninsula please support our concerts this year – a full house is the best support – and if you have the capacity to donate towards our 2025 Season and beyond, please take a look our fundraising in partnership with the Australian Cultural Fund. Social Inclusion and Accessibility
Peninsula Chamber Musicians are local musicians performing for our local communities - our core value and mantra is Live Local, Listen Local.
We are committed to our local community and continue to encourage new audiences and embrace our current audiences and all communities of the Mornington Peninsula. Ticket prices are intentionally low with free admission to primary and secondary students to encourage families to attend our orchestral concerts.
PCM work with the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Positive Ageing, Disability services and the Arts and Culture departments to build and foster relationships that deliver music performances to people who are unable to attend live performances. We are currently working with local radio station RPP to record our performance for radio broadcast and digital streaming. Many of our performances can be accessed on the Peninsula Chamber Musicians YouTube channel to allow the community access at their leisure.
PCM are committed to providing accessibility to all their concert venues. For more information on accessibility at our venues please follow this link
