About Us
Formed in 2013, Peninsula Chamber Musicians Inc have rapidly developed into an outstanding presence in the artistic landscape of the Mornington Peninsula. Whether performing intimate chamber recitals or as the energetic Peninsula Chamber Orchestra, the group seeks to touch the hearts of concert goers and inspire the next generation of performers. PCM invites Primary and Secondary school students to attend their family friendly and engaging concerts free of charge.
PCM was born from the desire to create opportunities and a sense of place for Peninsula based classical musicians. Now, it draws together highly skilled musicians from across the Peninsula and beyond. PCM has achieved recognition and support from members of Melbourne’s professional orchestral community.
PCM’s its chamber ensembles have provided entertainment in local libraries, local aged care facilities, art galleries opening and for private functions. The powerhouse of the group, the Peninsula Chamber Orchestra engages musicians from across the Peninsula and beyond in energetic and family friendly performances. Lead by Artistic Director Andrew Hall (MSO), the Chamber Orchestra have worked with guest soloists Amir Farid, Eric Kennedy, Helen Ireland, Isin Cakmakcioglu and Caroline Almonte.
Peninsula Chamber Musicians Social Inclusion Policy
Peninsula Chamber Musicians Inc acknowledges and respects the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung people, the Traditional Custodians of these lands and waters on which we rehearse and perform. We are committed to our local community and continue to encourage new audiences and embrace their current audiences and all communities of the Mornington Peninsula. PCM are local musicians performing for our local communities - our mantra is “Live Local, Listen Local”.
Since our inception in 2013 PCM has encouraged families to attend our orchestral concerts and have maintained free admission for all primary and secondary students. PCM promote concerts to schools on the Mornington Peninsula, inviting students and their families to attend performances in Mornington and Rosebud and beyond.
PCM are working with the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Positive Ageing, Disability services and the Arts and Culture departments to build and foster relationships that deliver music performances to people who are unable to attend live performances.
To achieve these outcomes, PCM are working together with local radio station RPP to “stream on the internet” video performances of PCM concerts and also adding online content to the PCM webpage to allow the community access at their leisure.
PCM are committed to providing accessibility to all their concert venues. Our webpages and advertising material provide this information for public awareness.
