Led by Artistic Director Tom Pugh and Concert Master Katriona Tsyrlin, the Chamber Orchestra attracts the best professional and community musicians from the Mornington Peninsula and surrounding areas. The Orchestra was established in 2014 with the guidance of former President and Orchestra Victoria Principal Trumpet, Anthony Pope and MSO Violinist and former PCM Artistic Director, Andy Hall to offer more musical opportunities to residents of the Mornington Peninsula.
With Community at the heart of its operations the Orchestra proudly expands to offer advanced students the opportunity to play with the group in its November concerts through its Student Participation Program. In 2023, with the assistance of a Mornington Peninsula Shire Performing Art Grant the orchestra was able to produce Rhapsodies - a community participation project for male voiced choristers on the Peninsula and the orchestra expanded to TSO sized Symphony Orchestra.
Our ambitious 2024 season features orchestral works, chamber music, opera and Australian and First Nations compositions in venues across the Peninsula. In 2024, our orchestral concert titles come from the works of living Australian composers we have programmed. We seek to give you moments of Reflection, as you enjoy music you know from famous composers and let your imaginations take Flight, experiencing classical music as a living artform that Tessellates old traditions with contemporary notions.
