She has enjoyed a career in opera in the United Kingdom, France and Australia - developing from lyric mezzo soprano to dramatic zwischenfach roles. She also has extensive work experience in music education, opera facilitation, choral conducting, the legal department of the BBC World Service, and top tier firms in London and Melbourne. Katrina is currently undertaking a PhD in creative practice at the ANU studying women with large, loud and unladylike voices titled Building Brünnhilde. Performances in 2023 include Opera Australia's Tannhauser, a premiere of Katy Abbott’s Stars that Split the Night, Brahms' Alto Rhapsody and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and Waltraute in Die Walküre for the Dramatic Voices Program, Berlin. Most recently she produced an all Australian program for the Peninsula Chamber Musicians’ residency at the Peninsula Hot Springs championing female and First Nations composers. She returns to Berlin in 2024 to perform Dritte Magdelein in Elektra. Katrina is the current President of the Peninsula Chamber Musicians and loves that she is able to contribute to the vibrant musical life of the Mornington Peninsula through her collaborations with the musicians of PCM. |
